Rod braves the Storm and takes the win!!

Both Jason & Rod made the journey to Ballarat to compete in the InterWinter Series Round 2, a 3 hour enduro in terrible conditions due to the weather.

Rod, in his first season of MTB racing, braved the terrible conditions (and had to borrow an undershirt - source confidential- to assist in staying warm) to win his category in what was a tough day of racing for all athletes. By the looks of the weather and conditions a finish was a victory itself, however to pull of a "W" was an outstanding achievement in what looks like could a be a successful season for both riders.

What made this performance even more impressive, was Rod, who also races at Footscray Cycling Club, competed in the club championships the previous day and was very unlucky not to have 2 wins in 2 days. Unfortunately for Rod, who made a break with 20kms to go was caught with the final 200m in the sprint for the line to finish 5th in the 100k race.

Jason, who has had a solid start to his season, is looking to peak for the World Titles later in the year managed a very strong 12th in his category. By the condition of the bikes at the conclusion of the day, both boys will need lots of TLC to get the steads back to working order.

Another week of Great Results

Over the last week 4 athletes competed in various events around Victoria.

Travis & Archie competed in the Williamstown 1/2 Marathon, with both athletes recording very solid times so early in the season.

Travis completed the 21.1kms in 1hr 21min 17sec placing him 7th overall in the race. Archie ran a super 1hr 27mins 37sec to record 32nd overall and an outstanding 2nd in his age group.

Both athletes are starting preparation for their first Ironman attempt at Busselton in December.

Jason competed in a 5hour enduro over the same weekend and finished an outstanding 4th overall and also in his age group. This is just the start of the long haul that Jason has leading into the World 24hour Championships later in the year.

Rod started his first 6hr enduro on his brand new MTB and had the misfortune of destroying his rear wheel just under 2hours into his race. At the time he was leading his age group and was looking for a positive result. Only upwards from here for Rod.

Keep returning to see weekly updates from the team.
